Venezuelan PC manufacturer Síragon will produce 900,000 laptops and 600,000 desktops per year at its manufacturing plant located in Valencia, which was officially opened on March 25, the company said in a statement.
In addition, the plant, called CTS (Complejo Tecnológico Síragon), which will also manufacture monitors and LCD television sets, includes the first surface mount technology manufacturing facility in Venezuela.
Síragon invested some US$12mn in the plant, which is expected to generate some 120 direct and nearly 800 indirect jobs.
During 2008, Síragon sold 80,000 desktops, 50,000 laptops and 15,000 netbooks, the latter of which were launched late 2008. The company holds a respective 9%, 8% and 50% market share in those categories in Venezuela, company VP Manuel Rey previously told BNamericas.
