Chilean IT group Coasin will focus this year on more specialized services and high value integration, in a move to increase value for clients, Coasin CEO Raúl Ciudad told BNamericas.
"This year we're going to focus hard on mining, on specialized services with remote network management, NOCs, SLAs. The idea is to get more and more into higher value services, higher complexity that provides value to the client," he said. "Not just in outsourcing, but also in applications and collaborating with the client in developing solutions that can solve problems specific in their sector."
Besides mining, other vertical market areas of focus include retail and the health sectors. And "the other area is what we call high value integration, which is where we automate the client's business process to solve existing problems. That involves from the hardware, the technological platform, to the development of software," he added. "Those projects are much higher value, require a closer relationship with the client and where we solve concrete problems."
The aforementioned focus areas are expected to bring Coasin 8-10% growth this year, Ciudad said. "We've been cautious in not predicting really high growth because the Europe situation is on our doorstep. So we're planning more moderate growth but with a heavy focus on consolidating what we have." As such, there are no M&A plans for this year. "We have enough as it is and have been developing [these business areas] well."
Calling 2011 "a good year," the CEO said Coasin closed with some 46bn pesos (US$91.3mn) in sales - above original forecasts of 44bn pesos.
Coasin consists of Coasin Global Solutions, which offers outsourcing services overseas; Coasin Energy Solutions, which serves the energy sector; Coasin Business Solutions, focused on ICT services; Coasin Instalaciones, offering implementation services for carriers; and C2 Mining Solutions, targeting provision of ICT solutions to the mining industry.
