Manaus Authorizes US$145mn Gradiente WLL Plant

Suframa, the duty free zone authority from Brazilian city Manaus, has authorized local equipment manufacturer Gradiente Telecom to build a US$145mn production plant, financial daily Gazeta Mercantil reported.

Gradiente will use the facility to produce CDMA-Wireless Local Loop (WLL) units, intended for purchase by fixed line operators such as Vesper, while devices will incorporate radio equipment supplied by Nokia (NYSE: NOK).

Gradiente expects to employ some 180 workers at the facility.
