Movistar partners with Mobile Streams to launch music download application

Argentine mobile operator Movistar, a unit of Spanish giant Telefónica, (NYSE: TEF) has partnered with UK content provider Mobile Streams to launch a full-track music download solution, Mobile Streams said in a statement.

According to the company, this full-track music streaming application is the first solution of its kind for the Argentine mobile market.

"We are delighted to have launched this service with Movistar Argentina and look forward to rolling out this advanced solution to more network carriers in the coming months," Mobile Streams CEO Simon Buckingham said.

The company also said it expects to launch the service with more of its network partners throughout the region by the end of 2006.

Mobile Streams develops and delivers content to mobile operators including ringtones, graphics and video clips among other products.

Headquartered in London, the company has subsidiaries in Germany, the US, Argentina, Brazil, Mexico, Chile, Colombia, Venezuela, Australia and Singapore, and has approximately 100 employees worldwide.
