El Salvador's telecoms regulator Siget has extended the license of mobile operator Telemovil to 2018 from the current expiry date in 2006, Telemovil owner Millicom International Cellular (Nasdaq: MICC) said in a statement.

The new license terms bring Telemovil into line with the other licenses in the market, the statement said.

Telemovil recently launched GSM services in the market under the Tigo brand and this is driving strong subscriber growth.
