Argentine telecoms operator Telmex Argentina and its mobile sister company Claro have finished the deployment of a fiber optic network for local operations, local paper La Nación reported.
The deployment required a total investment of 673mn pesos (US$174mn) and has an extension of 15,000km, according to the report.
Both companies also announced they will invest 78mn pesos to deploy an additional 750km of fiber optic infrastructure in the short term.
Telmex Argentina is fully owned by Mexican giant Telmex Internacional while Claro Argentina is controlled by Mexican giant América Móvil.
Both companies are owned by billionaire Carlos Slim.
