Colombian operator UNE-EPM Telecomunicaciones has acquired Cali-based cable TV operator Visión Satélite for US$30mn, local paper La República reported.
UNE president Horacio Vélez said that through the acquisition, the operator will strengthen its presence in the western area of the country. Visión Satélite has over 62,600 subscribers in the city of Cali.
Vélez also said that UNE will also have the possibility to use municipally owned multi-utility Emcali's copper network to provide value added services.
Shareholders at UNE-EPM Telecomunicaciones recently approved a merger with local operators Emtelsa, Costavisión and TV Cable Promisión.
UNE provides long distance, cable TV, fixed telephony and broadband services.
