The Caribbean and Latin American (CALA) division of US-based telecom equipment provider Zhone Technologies has opened sales and support offices in Sao Paulo, Buenos Aires, Mexico City and Monterrey, Zhone announced yesterday.

The new offices will be managed from the company's CALA headquarters in Miami, and will accommodate sales and support staff to further Zhone's global footprint and extend its ability to provide total voice, video, and data delivery solutions for local-loop networks worldwide.

"Zhone will give carriers the ability to upgrade existing network infrastructures and extend new last-mile, or local-loop connections to areas that do not currently offer high-bandwidth services,'' Zhone CALA region VP and CEO Antonio Jonusas said.

Zhone products are based on its Single Line Multi Service (SLMS) architecture and include the Broadband Access Node (BAN), the Zhone Management System (ZMS), the Sechtor universal voice gateway, and the Z-Edge integrated access device.
