Tigo Paraguay launches free Facebook service in Guaraní

Luxembourg-based telco Millicom (Nasdaq: MICC) has partnered with Facebook (Nasdaq: FB) to offer customers of its Paraguayan unit Tigo access to the social media site through their handsets without incurring any data charges, according to a Millicom release.

Users will also be able to access a version of the site in Guaraní, the indigenous language spoken by a majority of Paraguayans.

The agreement is part of the internet.org initiative, launched by Facebook, Ericsson (Nasdaq: ERIC), MediaTek, Nokia (NYSE: NOK), Opera, Qualcomm (Nasdaq: QCOMM) and Samsung, which has the aim of making basic internet services available on a global scale.
