Mexico's Sonora state water commission CEA has scheduled the start of work on its 3.68bn-peso (US$290mn) Independencia potable water pipeline for October 28, an official from the utility told BNamericas.
A tender to build the pipeline was launched July 29.
Bidders have until September 9 to register their interest via government procurement website Compranet, and a site visit will take place on August 9. Interested firms will present their offers on September 15, the official said.
The Independencia pipeline will transport water over 150km from the El Novillo reservoir to state capital Hermosillo. Construction will take an estimated 20 months to complete, BNamericas reported previously.
The pipeline is a central part of the state government's 11bn-peso Sonora SI integrated water plan, which was officially launched in April. The program also involves the construction of six new dams and reservoirs, as well as new potable water plants.
