Chile's SISS files charges against Aguas Antofagasta for April cuts

Thursday, May 23, 2013

Chile's national sanitation services authority SISS has filed charges against water utility Aguas Antofagasta for its alleged responsibility in two water cuts that affected various districts in Antofagasta last April 5 and 9.

The charges against the utility are due to deficiencies and discontinuity of its wastewater recollection services and for failing to meet duly notified regulatory instructions. The company will have 10 working days to provide an explanation, SISS said on its website.

SISS will then determine whether or not a sanction must proceed, which can then be appealed by Aguas Antofagasta in court.
