The Autopistas para la Prosperidad project involves building some 900km of four-lane highways, 63km of bridges and 90km of tunnels. Given the magnitude of the initiative, the project has been split into four sections. The project, formerly known as Autopistas de la Montaña, is expected to be the second-most expensive connectivity project in the world.
