The Chaglla project involves the construction of a 360MW hydro plant. On November 2009, Peru's energy and mines ministry awarded Odebrecht unit Generación Huallaga the definitive concession for the plant. The project is expected to create 463 jobs, one half of which could go to local workers. Empresa Generacion Huallaga (EGH) has requested IDB financing for US$150mn.
The project is being developed by Generación Huallaga, a subsidiary of Odebrecht.
