Description: The Chone multipurpose water project aims to reduce the risk of flooding in the city of Chone and increase the drainage capacity of the Chone river. In addition, it will ensure the provision of water for residential and industrial use to 170,000 residents of Chone and surrounding communities until 2035. The project will involve the construction of a reservoir, a dam on Grande river, a 2,220ha irrigation system, a potable water treatment plant and distribution system, and rainwater drainage networks. A consortium comprised of local firms Equitesa and Equitransa is carrying out the works, expected to take three years to complete.
