Alstom Brasil Energia e Transporte Ltda., a subsidiary of French transport multinational Alstom S.A., is focused on providing equipment and services primarily for Brazilian passenger transport companies, such as São Paulo's Metro, Rio de Janeiro Metro and Tramway, and Brasilia Metro. It also supplies solutions for Vale and others freight transport operators. The company owns a tramway manufacturing facility, in Taubaté; and a rolling stock production site, in Lapa. It has exported equipment to such clients as India's Chennai Metro Rail Limited; Argentina's Metrovías subway system; Chile's Santiago Metro, and New York's metro system. Alstom has been operating in Brazil since 1955, and the local subsidiary was established in 1966, with headquarters in São Paulo, from here it manages all Latin American operations.
