Andritz Hydro GmbH, a business unit of Austrian plant engineering group Andritz AG, manufactures and supplies electromechanical equipment, and provides services and automation for hydroelectric power stations. With more than 30,000 turbines installed totaling approximately 420,000MW of output, the company is one of the world's leading system suppliers, offering turbines, generators and additional equipment. Andritz Hydro also operates in the maintenance, refurbishment and upgrade market for existing hydropower plants. In addition, the company supplies pumps (for water transport, irrigation and other applications) and turbo-generators for thermal power stations. The company was awarded a contract to install the hydromechanical and electromechanical equipment for the Ñuble run-of-the-river hydropower plant in Chile's Biobío region (VIII). Andritz Hydro is also set to modernize three hydropower stations in Latin America: the Governor Bento Munhoz da Rocha Netto hydropower plant (total output: 1,676 megawatts), located on the Iguaçu River, Brazil, and the Carlos Fonseca and Centroamérica hydropower stations, located in the La Rauda valley, Nicaragua. The modernization work is expected to be over by 2022, 2017 and 2018, respectively.
