Description

The Organization of Ibero-American States for Education, Science and Culture (OEI, for its acronym in Spanish) is an international entity whose goal is to promote cooperation between countries via culture, technology, science and education. Formed in 1949 and based in Madrid, Spain, its member countries are Argentina, Bolivia, Brazil, Colombia, Costa Rica, Cuba, Chile, Dominican Republic, Ecuador, El Salvador, Spain, Guatemala, Equatorial Guinea, Honduras, Mexico, Nicaragua, Panama, Paraguay, Peru, Portugal, Uruguay, and Venezuela. In Peru, OEI is developing the Alto Piura project, which consists on building the Tronera Sur dam and the Transandino water tunnel, which will allow transporting water from the Huancabamba river to the Alto Piura basin to irrigate 50,000ha of land, once completed.
