Riberas del Pantepec, S.A. de C.V. is developing a new container terminal on Mexico's Atlantic coast in the municipality of Tuxpan in Veracruz state. The project consists of the construction of a 560m quay, the installation of four super post-Panamax ship-to-shore gantry cranes, eight automatic stacking cranes and other terminal handling equipment, and the construction of a 13ha container yard. The terminal is estimated to have an initial annual capacity of 576,000TEU. Riberas del Pantepec is majority owned by SSA México Holdings, S.A. de C.V., a subsidiary of Carrix Inc. Carrix is the world's largest privately held container terminal operator and cargo handling company, handling over 22mn TEUs per year worldwide. Grupo Braniff is the minority shareholder of the company.
