Siderúrgica Latino Americana (Silat), the Brazilian subsidiary of Spanish steelmaker Hierros Añón. is currently developing the Silat long steel mill in northeastern Brazil's Ceará state. The plant is to be built in the metropolitan region of state capital Fortaleza and will have capacity of 2Mt/y. Billets used for the production of rebar and wire rod will be made there. The project will be carried out in three stages. Añón started construction of Silat in July 2012. Ceará state's economic development agency Adece holds the remaining 10% in the plant.
