Telefónica Argentina, a subsidiary of Spanish Telefónica group, is a telecommunications company that provides fixed national and international telephony as well as residential and corporate broadband services through its brand Speedy. It currently operates close to 4.5 million fixed telephony connections, as well as 1.9 million data and broadband accesses. The company's optic fiber network totals more than 20,000km. Telefónica entered the Argentinian market in 1990, after the privatization of the phone industry. The company holds open-ended government-granted concession rights for the provision of local, national long distance and international telephony, national and international data transmission, and value-added and other telecommunication services. It also holds several concessions for 2G, 3G and 4G technology. The company is headquartered in the city of Buenos Aires.
