Anglo American Chile Ltda., the local subsidiary of multinational resource group Anglo American plc, is one of the largest mining companies in the country. As an integrated copper producer, it carries out exploration, mining, processing and trading of copper cathodes, anodes/blisters and concentrates, molybdenum concentrate, silver and sulfuric acid. Its copper-related operations in the country are carried out by Anglo American Sur S.A., which owns the Los Bronces and El Soldado mines and the Chagres smelter. Santiago-based Anglo American Chile holds a 75.5% interest in Anglo American Sur, and a 44% stake in Compañía Minera Doña Inés de Collahuasi, a copper mine in northern Tarapacá region (I). In addition, it has controlling interests in the Quellaveco and Michiquillay copper projects in Peru. In 2015, the company announced the closing of the sale of Anglo American Norte to the Audley consortium for US$300mn, with an additional US$200mn consideration dependent on different factors such as an average market price of copper and future Mantoverde exploration expansion into sulfurs.
