Description

Jamaica Public Service Company Limited (JPS) is a power generation and transmission company and the exclusive distributor of electricity in Jamaica serving residential and business customers; owned by Marubeni Corporation (40%), Korea East-West Power (40%), the Government of Jamaica (19.9%) and minority shareholders. JPS owns and operates 4 power stations, 9 hydroelectric plants, 43 substations and about 14,000 km of distribution and transmission lines; and purchases power from five independent generators. JPS operates the Bogue station (120MW) since 2016; and develops a natural gas-fired project (190MW) since 2017, which includes the construction of a gas turbine plant and a gas terminal in the Jamaica's Old Harbour of St. Catherine Parish.
