CEL to sell Chaparral bidding rules Aug 7-18
Bnamericas Published: Tuesday, August 01, 2006
El Salvador's state power company CEL will sell bidding rules for the 65.3MW El Chaparral hydroelectric project from August 7-18, CEL said in a statement. The US$90mn project would be built in the lower area of the Torola river basin in San Miguel department. Works include a substation and access roads. France's Alstom, Mexican group Ideal and German firms Voigt and Siemens have expressed interest in Chaparral, CEL president Nicolás Salume said previously. Rules will cost US$1,000 with offers due on November 7. The Central American Bank for Economic Integration (Cabei) will help finance Chaparral, which could start operating in 2010 and is one of four hydroelectric projects CEL is developing.
