Egesa board greenlights thermo plant equipment tender

The board of Panamanian generation company Egesa has authorized company manager Carlos Carcache to launch an international tender to purchase equipment for a thermo project, newspaper La Prensa reported. Panama's government created Egesa to participate in Spanish power firm Unión Fenosa's power supply tender, offers for which were submitted last month, as well as other power supply tenders launched by distributors. Egesa did not participate in last month's tender. A call for bids will be launched in coming days, the paper quoted Carcache as saying. Egesa's project entails a 250MW plant that will cost some US$300mn, according to reports.
