Intermet plant construction underway

US metals casting company Intermet (Nasdaq: INMT) has started construction on its 180 sq. ft. metal autoparts factory in northern Mexican city Monterrey, newspaper La Reforma reported. The US$45mn plant will open third-quarter next year, reaping US$40mn in annual revenue through two casting lines and a coremaking operation. Intermet may expand the plant with further ductile iron facilities or aluminum casting capabilities, according to a company statement. Intermet, headquartered in Troy, Michigan, specializes in cast-metal automotive components.
