
Placer Dome looking to cut Cerro Casale capex

Canada's Placer Dome (NYSE: PDG) has a team studying how to cut estimated costs at its 51%-owned Cerro Casale gold-copper project in northern Chile in order to move forward with the proposed mine, Estrategia newspaper reported, quoting Placer's Latin American president William Hayes. Capex for the project, the rest of which is owned by fellow Canadian company Bema Gold (TSX: BGO) and its subsidiary Arizona Star, is currently put at around US$1.4bn.
