Torreon Begins Wastewater Inspections

Mexico's Coahuila state city Torreon's municipal water and sanitation system authority, Simas, has begun inspections of 911 companies in the city to ensure they do not dump pollutants into the sewer system, Simas manager Alfredo Rojas Hernandez said, Notimex reported. A total of 911 companies have been inspected this year out of 1,457 in Torreon, with 14,000 physical-chemical and bacteriological analyses conducted, Rojas said. Irregularities include the dumping of greases, oil, trash and solids that do not dissolve easily, he added.
