Argentina's energy department announced that Empresa Federal de Energía began commercial operations of the 12MW Parque de los Llanos solar park (pictured) in La Rioja province.
The project was selected under renewable energy term market MATER, which provides large-scale users, with demand of at least 300kV, an with alternative to the RenovAr renewable energy auction program.

In response to reports that Chubut province may tax wind power generation, governor Mariano Arcioni denied that such plans exist and said that renewable energies are part of the province's development.
"We are more concerned with generating investment and developing clean energies and guaranteeing them with legal security, than with collecting taxes," he added.

In a related note, Total Eren closed financing in recent days with KfW IPEX-Bank and FMO for the US$138mn, 50.4MW Malaspina wind project in Chubut. The plant is scheduled to be completed in the third quarter.
