Argentine President Fernández inaugurates Santa Fe steel plant

Argentine President Cristina Fernández de Kirchner inaugurated the first of a three stage steel plant in Santa Fe province. The plant's first stage required a 300mn peso (US$62.8mn) investment and has an estimated production capacity of 300,000t/y of thick rolled steel, according to a government press release. A second phase will require the construction of two addition stations with a total estimated production capacity of 300,000t/y of steel profiles. The final stage will allow the plant to produce steel billets and slabs.
