Brief: Peru launches 1st domestic cryptocurrency

Peruvian firm Bits2u has launched PeruCoin, the first domestic cryptocurrency in the Andean nation, according to a report in local daily El Comercio.

On its website Bits2u says it is the first legally registered company in country that is "dedicated to the investment sector and cryptocurrency cloud mining."

Among the goals of the company is making cryptocurrencies part of Peru's electronic payments and also to be used as payments at commercial establishments, according to the report.
