In Brief: OPIC approves Colombia financing

The board of the Overseas Private Investment Corporation (OPIC) has approved US$293mn in new financing for private sector-led projects in Colombia.

The US government agency will provide up to US$50mn to private equity fund Avenida Colombia Real Estate Fund, which invests in real estate projects targeting Colombia's low- and middle-income populations, OPIC said in a statement.

It will also provide up to US$243mn to local lender Banca Davivienda to increase low-income home buyers' access to mortgage loans.
