Brazil's electric installed capacity increases more than expected
Brazil's electric power system installed capacity has expanded 6,215MW in 2017 through November, the mining and energy ministry said, based on data from the electric system monitoring committee (CMSE). This represents annual growth 4% greater than the expected 5,971.5MW.
Last month 294.6 MW of power generation capacity came online while 100MVA of transformation were added to the basic grid.
Transmission expansion totaled 1,881 km of lines and connections of new plants in addition to 10,834MVA of transformation in the basic power grid.
According to CMSE, current risk of an energy deficit in 2017 is non-existent for the southeast/center-west and northeast sub-systems. For 2018, projected risk levels for these systems are 0.6% and 0.0%, respectively.
