Brazil's Sanepar tenders Curitiba wastewater works

Brazil's Paraná state water utility Sanepar has launched a 38.8mn-real (US$17.3mn) tender for works to expand its sewerage system in state capital Curitiba.

The project, part of phase one of the city's Belém wastewater treatment plant project, is expected to last 18 months, according to the company's procurement notice.

Interested companies may request tender clarifications until June 26. Proposals are due July 2.

Companies must have proven project-relevant experience, including building a sewage treatment plant with a treatment capacity of at least 1,250l/s and a wastewater pumping station or water supply system with a minimum power output of 450hp, the notice said.

Funding is being provided by the cities ministry and national development bank BNDES.

The works are part of Sanepar's plan to invest some 4bn reais in waterworks projects in 2013-20. Some 329mn reais have already been earmarked this year for projects in 13 municipalities.

Eight projects will be developed in the metropolitan region of state capital Curitiba, while the other five will take place in the cities of Londrina, Maringá, Cascavel, Foz do Iguaçu and Ponta Grossa. All works fall under phase 2 of the federal government growth acceleration plan PAC.
