Submarine cable Arimao has landed in Martinique, official Cuban paper Granma reported.

The system will connect Cuba with the French territory, giving Cubans a second international link.

Following the cable deployment by French company Orange, a second phase of the project will start, including terrestrial deployment, system integration and tests, Cuban state telco Etecsa said. A date for the commercial launch has not been announced yet.

The 2,500km cable will complement the existing Alba-1 system connecting Cuba with Venezuela.

Digicel Trinidad and Tobago is migrating its lower broadband plans to faster and wider bundles.

“Customers today require even more reliable and powerful internet, faster speeds, a wider range of entertainment products that complement their new digital lifestyles and simpler ways for them to choose bundles that offer the best value,” Digicel said, according to local newspaper Trinidad and Tobago Guardian.

From February 1, Digicel bundles will have a minimum bandwidth speed of 200Mbps with access to nine additional channels and premium content.
