Mexico's state power company CFE has extended to May 11 from April 27 the deadline to purchase bidding rules for an international tender to drill geothermal wells in Puebla state, CFE said in a statement. CFE also extended the offer submission deadline to May 18 from May 3. Potential bidders are Multiservicios de Perforación Geopetroleros and Constructora y Perforadora Latina. The winner will drill production wells in the Humeros geothermal field and an exploratory well in the Acoculco zone. CFE has budgeted an initial 104mn pesos (US$10mn) for the works, which are due to begin in June and will take 320 days. At end-2006, CFE's effective installed generation capacity reached 47.9GW, of which geothermal represented 960MW.
