
Chile: CNE created a new Department of Information, Energy Innovation and Institutional Relations

Within the framework of its process of continuous improvement in the fulfillment of its institutional objectives, the National Energy Commission (CNE), through Exempt Resolution No. 185 of 2022, approved a new internal organization, which provides for the creation of the Department of Information, Energy Innovation and Institutional Relations.
The responsibility of this department is to carry out the national and international institutional relations of the CNE and the coordination and implementation of methodologies, technologies and improvements to the processes of collection, systematization, analysis and publication of information and energy statistics.
One of its strategic objectives is to make available to the public, the market and interest groups, relevant information linked to both the Commission's processes and the energy sector, using different formats, platforms and/or digital media, maintaining a updated design and ad hoc to the target audience and needs of the sector, as well as the operation of these media and the reliability of the data.
In addition, it is in charge of proposing and managing mechanisms, channels and spaces for participation and information before the citizenry, collaborating in turn in the internal management of communications.
The new Department also deals with research and innovation in energy matters, coordinating and being a counterpart for the development of initiatives and/or projects that promote continuous improvement and knowledge management, as well as monitoring the function associated with article 72°- 13 of the General Law of Electric Services.
Marco Antonio Mancilla, Executive Secretary of the CNE, highlighted the role that this department will have in monitoring energy innovation and institutional relations, since "it will allow channeling the efforts that digital transformation entails, and the energy transition towards increasingly more dynamic".
“We believe that it is necessary for the energy sector to promote and institutionalize the development of long-term research, ad-hoc to the requirements of the system, and the implementation of pilot projects that facilitate the creation of experience and the generation of information inputs both to the authority, as well as the operation of the system”, pointed out the sectoral authority.
