Chinese firm awarded Oruro, Cochabamba hwy construction tender

Bolivia's national highway administrator (ABC) awarded the construction of both sections of the Caracollo-Confital highway to Chinese company Nuclear Industry Nanjing Construction Group for a value of 1.080bn bolivianos (US$156mn).

The four-lane highway will connect Caracollo in Oruro department with Confital in Cochabamba department and works are broken into two sections: Caracollo to the department border and the border with Confital.

Five other firms submitted offers for the first branch, while two others bid on the second part. However, in both cases Nuclear Industry Nanjing Construction Group was the only company to meet all the requirements.

The contract for the first part is valued at 566mn bolivianos and Nuclear Industry Nanjing Construction Group will have 43 months to carry out the works. The second part has a value of 514mn bolivianos with 42 months to complete the works.
