
CNE launches Public-Private Short-Term Market working group

More than 40 participants had the first session of the Public-Private Short-Term Market Table, in charge of the National Energy Commission (CNE), where representatives of the Ministry of Energy, the Superintendency of Electricity and Fuels ( SEC ) met , National Electrical Coordinator , and twelve trade associations of the energy industry.
The instance was attended by the Undersecretary of Energy, Julio Maturana, who pointed out the commitment of the Ministry of the branch, the CNE and the SEC, to carry out the conversations regarding the situation of supply companies that have declared the impossibility of pay its obligations derived from the Short-Term Market.
Marco Antonio Mancilla, Executive Secretary of the CNE, specified that the objective of the table "is to analyze the particular and systemic causes that would be influencing this situation to decide the steps to follow in the short, medium and long term, which is why In this first meeting, the vision of the various actors of the National Electric System was heard and collected, regarding the break in the payment chain, with the purpose of having greater elements of judgment for decision making.”
This is how attendees were presented with background information on the current operating conditions of the electricity system, which would have influenced the financial situation affecting certain supply companies.
Finally, the representatives of each one of the members of the Table gave their vision on the situation of the national market.
The Executive Secretary indicated that, in the next sessions, the participants will be able to present their views, in depth, on this matter, whose presentations will later be available on the CNE website.
