Corsan to upgrade water services in Panambi

Corsan, the water utility of Brazil's Rio Grande do Sul state, is planning to expand water supply in the municipality of Panambi.

The company will invest 27mn reais (US$7.2mn) in the works, according to a statement from the municipality.

"Works comprise water collection, a reservoir, treatment and pressure regulation systems, as well as replacing old networks," said André Finamor, head of institutional relations at Corsan.

"The growth of Panambi, without the necessary planning, resulted in the problems in the water supply that we're experiencing. These works will guarantee Panambi's supply for the next 30 years," said mayor Daniel Hinnah. The municipality has a population of around 43,000.
