Dominican Rep fuel group secures renewable energy concession
The Dominican Republic’s national energy commission (CNE) and Coastal Petroleum Dominicana have signed a definitive concession contract for a 110MW photovoltaic project.
BNamericas previously reported that the fuel terminal operator had secured a provisional concession for the Coastal Solar park.
Coastal Petroleum, part of local group Propagas, requested the 25-year definitive concession in April. The environmental license was issued in August 2021.
GL Garrad Hassan Mexico conducted solar photovoltaic resource studies for the plant which will be built in San Pedro de Macorís province.
Another Dominican hydrocarbons company looking to expand its business scope is Tropigas Dominicana, with the 43MW Martí solar project.
Tropigas holds a definitive concession for Martí and in April, inked a power supply agreement with the government.
Development of both projects falls under renewable energy incentives law 57-07 which includes tax breaks among other benefits.
