Ecopetrol, Petrominerales launch Colombian water injection plant
Colombian state oil firm Ecopetrol launched a water injection plant in southwest Huila department, in partnership with Pacific Rubiales unit Petrominerales.
The US$12.8mn plant is located on the Dina Terciarios field in the Upper Magdalena basin and has a 20,000b/d nominal water injection capacity, according to an Ecopetrol release.
Water injection will help maintain Dina Terciarios' well pressure and recovery rates. The plant will also provide a way to handle produced well water, eliminating the need for aboveground storage facilities, the company added.
