Argentina's YPF buys generation plant

Argentine state oil company YPF has started investing in the power generation sector following the sale of 25% of its electric energy division to GE to finance the plan.

The company has reported that its YPF Energía Electrica (YPF EE) division has bought the La Plata cogeneration plant from Central Puerto for US$31.5mn.

The 120MW La Plata plant is located within the YPF refinery complex in the city of La Plata.

With this operation, YPF EE will increase its net generation capacity to a total of 1,807MW, with projects under construction for an additional 485 MW.

Last month, the NOC's energy division secured authorization to connect its 105MW Loma Campana II thermoelectric plant to the SADI national grid.
