Brazil outlines reserve energy auction rules

Brazil's next A-1 power auction will offer three and five-year supply contracts from existing plants, the mining and energy ministry (MME) said on Thursday.

Generators participating in the December 5 round must begin deliveries on January 1, according to an MME statement.

Energy will be negotiated by quantity, except for thermoelectric power, which will be traded in the three-year "availability" modality.

All agreements will be negotiated on Brazil's CCEAR regulated market.
