Brazil's Triunfo handed 807MW hydro permit

Brazil's Triunfo Participações received an environmental permit for the 807MW Três Irmãos hydroelectric plant in São Paulo state.

The license allows Triunfo's subsidiary, Tijoá, to operate the plant as the majority stakeholder of the Novo Oriente consortium, the São Paulo-based firm said in a statement.

Novo Oriente was awarded operating rights for the plant in March, after its former controller, Cesp, rejected new concession terms.

The consortium also includes Furnas, a subsidiary of state-run power group Eletrobras.
