Five of the six groups that submitted prequalification documents last month in Panama's call to build the country's fourth power transmission line have advanced in the process.
The prequalifiers for the 317km 500kV Chiriquí Grande-Panamá III project are Interconexión Eléctrica, China Electric Power Equipment and Technology, Chiriquí Transmisora de Energía (Elecnor and Abengoa-Algonquin Global Energy Solutions), Consorcio Four Seasons (Sterlite Power, Rte International, EGIS Group and Andrade Gutierrez Engineering) and Consorcio Vasco Nuñez de Balboa (Northland Power Development, Manitoba Hydro International and Control y Montajes Industriales), according to state transmission company Etesa. TBEA did not make the cut.
The next step entails the launch of bidding with awarding scheduled for next year. The line is penciled in to come online in 2023.
