Central Puerto to absorb fellow Sadesa units

Argentine generator Central Puerto will absorb fellow Sadesa group subsidiaries Centrales Térmicas Mendoza, La Plata Cogeneración and HPDA, which operates the 1.4GW Piedra del Águila hydro facility.

The move will increase Central Puerto's total installed capacity to 3.9GW, a company statement said, adding that it will now account for approximately 22% of energy generated by private sector companies on the SADI grid.

The company will also assume 56% ownership of the 850MW Vuelta de Obligado thermo plant in Timbúes, Santa Fe province, which is due to come online this year. The rest of Vuelta de Obligado is owned by Duke Energy and the Argentine state.
