Chile's Besalco to sell hydroelectric projects

Chilean construction firm Besalco will sell its Los Hierros I and Los Hierros II run-of-the-river hydro projects in Maule region (VII), according to a filing sent to securities regulator SVS.

The 25MW Los Hierros I plant began operating at the beginning of this year, while the 5.5MW Los Hierros II project is slated to come online at year-end.

BTG Pactual Chile will manage both sales, Besalco said in the filing. A company spokesperson was not immediately available to provide more details.

Besalco's mini-hydro portfolio consists of 13 projects in various stages of development totaling 178MW, according to the firm's latest MD&A. All of the plants will connect to Chile's central SIC grid.
