The demand uptick comes after the addition of new capacity to the generation park.

The government reported operations startup of Ingenio Santa Ana's 62MW expansion at the company's 302MW biomass fired plant in Santa Lucía Cotzumalguapa, Escuintla department.

And AMM highlighted the addition of 57.3MW from Biomass Energy, which earlier this year picked up a PPA.

Of the country's 3,045MW nameplate capacity in September, approximately 43% is thermo, 32% hydro and 22% bagasse. Geothermal and solar reach 49.2MW and 5MW, respectively.
