Guatemala saw maximum power demand in September hit 1,567MW, behind the 1,574MW record set this March but up 4.68% from a year ago.
Information from wholesale market administrator AMM also reveals that September consumption rose 2.92% year-on-year to 817GWh and production increased 2.61% to 846GWh.
The demand uptick comes after the addition of new capacity to the generation park.
The government reported operations startup of Ingenio Santa Ana's 62MW expansion at the company's 302MW biomass fired plant in Santa Lucía Cotzumalguapa, Escuintla department.
And AMM highlighted the addition of 57.3MW from Biomass Energy, which earlier this year picked up a PPA.
Of the country's 3,045MW nameplate capacity in September, approximately 43% is thermo, 32% hydro and 22% bagasse. Geothermal and solar reach 49.2MW and 5MW, respectively.
