IN BRIEF: Colombia to release Quimbo hydro report
Colombia's national environmental licensing authority Anla in March will publish a report on the environmental impact of the 400MW El Quimbo hydroelectric plant.
The document's release will follow the evaluation of 270 presentations as part of the citizen participation mechanism in which some 2,000 people attended, including local and regional authorities, the watchdog said in a statement.
Among the principal complaints were the impact on fishing, delays in the construction of irrigation infrastructure and the need to promote productive projects, added Anla. The report will define an action plan.
Also from Colombia's power sector, residential public services regulator Superservicios reported it fined utility Vatia 1.475bn pesos (US$500,000) for withholding 12bn pesos in funds destined for energy subsidies.
