Mexico opened its first 100% solar powered school in Chiapas state, with an investment of US$120,000 for the installation of solar panels and LED lamps.

The conversion of the high school to solar power consumption was financed by the education ministry. It will reduce its energy costs and contribute to lowering emissions, said state governor Manuel Velasco, according to a state government press release.
